Leather Finishing is a process undertaken for enhancing and protecting the natural beauty of the hide. Finish is a thin film over the top of the leather. For the final output, the final wet end processing of the skins is very important procedure. The leather is re-tanned and dyed, ready for finishing to the highest possible standards.
Importance of Leather Finishes:
- Finishes are required on all types of leather articles for a sparkling, highly flexible wax finish.
- Finishes are required to protect and preserve the color after dyeing.
- Leather finishes gives a soft, lustrous look.
- Enhances durability.
Some of the different types of leather finishes are:
Fully
Pigmented Finish: This leather finish is most popular
belong of its durability. The finish consists of many coats of
sealer and color.
Antique
Finish: This leather finish is done by applying several
coats of a base color and then a fine coat of a darker color is
sprayed on the top giving it a two- toned effect.
Wyper
Finish: This leather finish is quite similar to the antique
finish. The only difference being that the darker shade is wiped off
with the help of a special solvent.
Corrected
Grain Finish: The corrected grain finish looks a bit like
vinyl. Excessive scarring is sanded smooth and embossed with an
artificial grain to give that leather the embossed finish.
Full
Grain Finish: This leather finish has had nothing done to
change the natural surface. It is soft and contains the natural
markings of the hide.
